An access log is a text file which contains a full list of all of the files accessed by your Internet site visitors. All of the files which were requested in one way or another shall be included, so when you have a PHP script program and a site visitor opens just the home page, for instance, you may find many files in the log. The reason is that there are elements on the home page which are embedded - parts of other web pages, pics, and so on. All these files shall be listed within the access log, allowing you to get a complete picture of the way your website performs. The data is in plain text format, so the logs are sometimes referred to as "raw data" as well. An access log provides the name of every requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, along with the user’s IP address, browser and OS. More info, such as the referrer Internet site, is oftentimes supplied as well. A log file could be processed by various desktop programs for statistical purposes as an addition to the web stats supplied by your server.
Access Log Manager in Website Hosting
Our in-house built Hepsia CP includes a section focused on various logs and the access logs are one of them. When you sign in to your website hosting account and visit this section, you'll find a list of all the domains and subdomains that you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to click on a button which will be available next to every domain/subdomain. When the option is enabled, you'll see a download link as well as the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your PC and look at it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect right away, so if you no longer require one, you could stop it with only a click from the same section of the Control Panel. You will still have the ability to access the already generated content by simply clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
When you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company, it won't take more than several clicks to permit the generation of access logs by our system if you require them. The feature can be activated via the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel and this can be done separately for each and every domain or subdomain that you have within your account. After you log in and look at the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you will discover a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each of them. One click shall trigger the log generation and another one will disable it, so you can control this feature with great convenience. A Download link within the same section will permit you to save the compiled content as a text file, which you could then use on your personal computer. Even when the logs are disabled, you'll still be able to download the data that has been previously generated.
